AAR Creativity Cart Elementary Program

Monday, February 13, 2017 - 10:33am

The AAR team is excited to launch the new Creativity Cart program in collaboration with our district's Elementary Educational Services. The mission of this joint program is to nurture our students’ creativity and resiliency while connecting them today’s real-world complexities. These carts are stocked with a plethora of items that can be utilized to any student’s imagination. This platform goes beyond knowledge of NGSS to personalize learning and application of knowledge.

The goal of the AAR Creativity Cart program is to extend the philosophy of AAR to elementary schools by engaging students in guided and personalized projects that promote the cultivation of skills in respect to design, research, and development of self-advocacy.

The implementation of this pilot program will begin at Palo Verde, Addison, Nixon, Briones, Greendell, and El Carmelo elementary in an effort to meet our district’s equity and access goals. Schools have received a supply cart stocked with anticipated materials for their respective activities.

We envision “The Creativity Project” to be a district-wide opportunity for our elementary students. Those who participate in these projects will be encouraged to explore an array of topics at appropriate grade levels. Through allowing students to select tailored project subjects with general, guiding questions, we are hoping to garner genuine interests from students that can extend to any topic. Students’ endeavor in creativity will be celebrated by showcasing their projects on the AAR website at the end of the school year.

We are looking forward to seeing where the students’ imagination takes them.
