AAR Hosts First Mentor/Student Forums for 2017-18

Wednesday, October 11, 2017 - 9:31am

AAR hosted two Mentor/Student Forum events--one at Paly and one at Gunn--Tuesday, October 3. The two events drew in students, mentors, teachers, and site administrators, and gave students a chance to sit down with their mentors to ask questions, get assistance, and discuss their projects with other students and mentors. Light refreshments were served, and both events were received enthusiastically by attendees.

Mentors and students both expressed excitement for the opportunity to meet in a structured environment to work on their projects and to interact with other AAR participants in similar fields.

The Mentor/Student Forum was designed as a more project-focused replacement for the AAR Opening Social and is part of the newly expanded mentor network initiative. Additional forum events are being planned for later in the school year, as students get deeper into their AAR research.

AAR would like to thank the admin, staff, and faculty at Gunn High School and Palo Alto High School who helped make these two events a success. We would also like to thank the volunteers who helped us with the monumental task of setting up and running the events, and of course our mentors, without whom AAR would not be possible.
