AAR students learn about sustainable food through community garden project

Thursday, October 11, 2018 - 12:14pm

AAR is working with Stanford University's Sustainable Food program and Paly's Social Justice Pathway (SJP) on an expanded community garden project. This week, Paly students gathered in the garden to prepare beds, launch a worm/permaculture bin, seed radishes (which the students got to take home), and plant herbs.

The community garden project gives AAR students the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning through an interdisciplinary project that can explore agriculture, nutrition, project management, supply chain issues, climate, and biology. As it grows, the community garden is forging ties to SJP through food justice lessons and to the culinary arts program through farm-to-table curriculum.
