Second Annual Opening Social
On Monday, September 12, AAR hosted the second annual Opening Social in Gunn's Titan Gym. The evening kicked off with remarks by PAUSD Superintendent Dr. Max McGee and AAR Coordinator Dr. Jeong Choe. The night ended with a speech by Dr. Steve Mann, an AAR mentor, scientist, and inventor. Approximately 500 AAR students, mentors, parents, and instructors attended to meet each other and learn about the event's goals:
Understand the program’s big picture and how all roles contribute to student learning.
Connect mentors with their students, and connect students with their project partners.
Provide program and course information to parents and students.
The Opening Social served as an opportunity to connect as a community - one that shares interests, passions, and talents to cultivate real-world, hands-on learning.
