Summary

Modern commercial fishing consists of industrialized processes and techniques that lead to overfishing of populations and destroying habitats at an increasing rate. Government bodies provide subsidies that prop up the industry in ways that are not economically or environmentally sustainable. The project explores ways in which we can adjust fishing techniques, fishery management strategies, and government policy to benefit both the environment and the economy of the fishing industry.
